Benefits of Local

The products sold at our Farmers Market are personally grown or created by local farmers. You are helping to support those local family farms by giving them the capital they need to continue providing fresh produce for you and your family.

Benefits of Fresh

The fruits and vegetables are picked and harvested at the peak of their growing season. Most farmers get up before the sun on the market day to harvest, which is why the produce is always extra fresh and delicious.

Benefits to Health

Fresh produce is healthier! The food you get from the Farmer’s Market is generally safer, having either been grown organically or with a minimal use of chemicals. Farmers provide a fresher, healthier and better tasting alternative to processed food.

About Our Local Farmers

Fresh Local,
Farm Food

Farmers markets play an important role in increasing the availability and accessibility of local foods. They are also a perfect place for teaching children about the food they eat. The market offers an opportunity for all kinds of local farmers and producers to sell their products and invite the local community to gather over a variety of delicious, fresh foods in their own neighborhoods.

Our farmers at the Millport Farmers Market range from young to old. We have farmers who started as early as 9 years old all the way to farmers well into their 80s. They are all very passionate about their produce and products. It’s a place for kids to learn about what it takes to grow their own food, providing them opportunities, as well as, experiences to strengthen their leadership and knowledge of agriculture and farming.

“It’s not just a farmers market where you can get fresh vegetables, baked good and homemade crafts. To me, it’s a family.”

About Her Passion

Our Founder

In 2018, Susan Hudgens planted a seed and created Millport Farmer’s Market in the heart of Millport at the walking track. Getting it up and running wasn’t easy and it took a lot more than Susan had anticipated, but she didn’t give up. Her primary objective was to bring the community back together while prodiving an important benefit.

As a little girl Susan had a big dream of having her own farm with animals and gardens. Gardening is therapeutic to her, so she wanted to share this love with others.

But it was much more complicated to establish the Millport Farmers Market than she would have ever expected. The community didn’t believe in her and told her the town was too small for this idea. But it didn’t stop Susan for making her dream come true, but instead she saw it as a challenge.

Thanks to the strong support from the community, the South Lamar Chamber of Commerce, and Millport Mayor Stanley Allred the Farmers Market is going strong.
